I am surprised that the decision to close the school could not have been made and disseminated to parents on the evening of 13.10.10 (as per other local schools) rather than receiving an early text on 14.1.10 when we are already out of bed preparing for school and work
Thank you for your comments on the blog, it is such a good way of parents being able to see the many activities going on in the school. We are so pleased that the Groupcall messaging service is working so well. With regard to deciding whether to open on Thursday, it is difficult sometimes to make the decision the day before as we have to take several factors into account to ensure the safety of all the children and adults. Some local schools decided to close early in the day on Wednesday whilst others waited to see the forecasts etc. in the hope that conditions would improve and schools could be opened. Mrs Hamilton and I were very keen to try to open Thursday but unfortunately had to take the decision late on Wednesday to close after speaking to several people about the dreadful conditions in the area. It has only been this week that Glos. County Council have given schools the facility to close the day before as usually, schools have to telephone in on the morning of closure. We notified Glos. County Council on Wednesday evening and as our first notification to parents, the G.C.C website listed us as closed Wednesday evening. It was decided to send out the text at 6.30 Thursday morning rather than 10.00 Wednesday evening as we did not want to disturb people.
Thank you again for your comments on the new messaging service; it does seem to be an effective way of communicating quickly with parents. Hopefully, the snow will melt shortly and we will not need to use the service for a while!
Many thanks for your blogging. Best wishes Mrs White

Group calls are fantastic! Coalway schools lead the way for other to follow.
